Working with adults
My approach to working with adults is to listen first, and then to suggest ways forward that are linked to your goals and any concerns that you’d like to talk about.
People who I work with may be aware of something which blocks them in terms of general learning or specific areas like reading, writing or arithmetic. Some people have had assessment earlier in life, or been given a diagnosis, but many haven’t.
Together, we may decide that assessment will help us to look deeper into certain skills related to the issue that we’ve discussed. For example, this might be in terms of your memory. This process can be about identifying barriers and solutions, but it is equally about finding the strengths which you can build on.
Any assessment will be personalised and constructive for your goals. I will be available to explore your goals with you if you wish. My aim is to bring psychology which is relevant to you. I hope that this will add something to the way that you see the issue which led you to get in touch.
